Celebrating 40 years of the West Highland Way

On October 6th 2020 we will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the West Highland Way.  To mark this milestone, we are creating an on-line exhibition of West Highland Way experiences, including a short film.

UPDATE – 6TH OCTOBER 2020: You can now view the 40th anniversary virtual exhibition here.

Submissions now closed, thank you.

From now until September 6th, please send us your stories, memories, photographs, videos and/or artwork of Scotland’s first and best loved long-distance route.

If you have walked, cycled or run the West Highland Way you will no doubt have lots of memories and stand out moments from your adventures. We are looking to draw together as many of these as possible, with an exhibition that captures the magic of the trail from the many thousands that have enjoyed their time on it.

What are we looking for?

Charity challenges, overnight stops, fun moments along the route, the highs, the lows, weddings or family celebrations, the people that you shared the experience with. Maybe you’ve walked it multiple times, maybe you took part in a cycling or running event. Also, we’d love to hear from the people who work along the trail; the accommodation providers, shop and café owners, the van drivers, path maintenance, volunteers and so on.

How to submit

If the West Highland Way has touched your life during the last 40 years tell us why and please share any photographs, videos or artwork that you have before the deadline of midnight on 6th September 2020.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their WHW memories with us.  We are now busy putting together the online exhibition in time for the 40th anniversary on 6th October.  Please keep watching this space!

Please see full terms and conditions.
