The first stage of work to upgrade the Conic Hill path from Balmaha is now complete and the path has reopened.
We expect an uptick in visitors, especially around Easter, so please remember, it is important to stay on the path and keep dogs under control as livestock/lambs are often hidden on the hill.
The  Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority is investing £900,000 over the next three years to widen and strengthen the heavily used path, which has deteriorated in recent years due to the high volume of visitors.
This first stage has involved construction of a wider, more robust path from the forest boundary to the top of the timber steps. Further works are planned for winter 2023 and we will keep you updated as we approach that second stage.
Path contractors will still be working on the path up to Bealach Ard until mid-May. This section is within the Conic Hill SSSI and some areas will be roped off to protect the vegetation so walkers will be advised to follow any minor diversions and comply with any requests from path workers.
This project to upgrade the path at Conic Hill forms part of the National Park Authority’s commitment to investing in visitor services and infrastructure, to provide an excellent visitor experience and to help manage visitor pressures.
