Refuel at The Real Food Cafe
The Real Food Cafe is an Award-Winning diner specialising in Fish and Chips serving The West Highland Way for almost 20 years. With its famous warm welcome, cosy fire and award-winning food, the cafe has become a bit of an institution for a wide-ranging outdoors community, providing ‘fuel’ for tens of thousands of hikers, hillwalkers and cyclists every year.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, our values centre round people, the environment and sustainability. We work hard to source Scottish produce whenever possible and all our fish comes from sustainable, MSC Certified stock. We serve a delicious menu of locally sourced and homemade fast food, including award-winning fish and chips, Scotch beef and venison burgers, healthy salads, homemade soups, a large selection of award-winning home baking and a wide range of organic teas and Fairtrade coffee. We are licenced and sell a selection of wine together with Scottish craft beer and cider.
We offer an informal, relaxed, and welcoming atmosphere for all and although we do not take bookings, we make an exception when we can for people with disabilities and (other than at peak times) larger groups. We can be very busy at high season and on a busy Friday evening, but please bear with us and we will have you seated and served within 20 minutes. Many visitors are amazed at the speed of turnaround and how frequently tables and seats free-up.
We are a Coeliac UK Accredited Caterer, with an A grade rating for our gluten free fish and chips, and a dedicated gluten free menu
We welcome large groups, solo travellers, families and dogs (with well-behaved owners!) We are committed to becoming gradually more accessible to all visitors. Please find our Accessibility Guide here.
For electric vehicle users, we have an EV charger in our car park, plus bike racks for cyclists, and hand, boot and ‘paw-washing’ for walkers and their companions.
Whether you are breaking your journey on the A82, walking The West Highland Way, or staying in Tyndrum to make the most of the local Munros, we look forward to welcoming you at one of the country’s most popular ‘re-fuelling’ stops.
